“Fish Smarter, Not Harder” Class Scheduled

I know a lot of you have been waiting for our comprehensive fishing course to be scheduled and we have finally got it in the calendar.  This class is the absolute “nuts and bolts” to fishing and boating in southwest Florida and is a do not miss for anyone who recently moved to our area or is a new boater.  It will be held at the YMCA in Venice.

Click HERE for more information on dates/times.  This course will dramatically shorten your learning curve and raise your confidence, ultimately teaching you in hours, what takes years to learn.

Looking for a Fishing Companion

View to the north from home on Lemon Bay

I live on Lemon Bay in Englewood. While I have a lifetime of experience from bait casting and spin fishing to fly fishing, I’m new to the world of salt water fishing. I’d like to hook up with someone looking for a companion interested in fishing for snook, redfish, tarpon and largemouth bass. That’s not to say I wouldn’t be interested in sharing expenses for an offshore trip, although I’m not equipped for such fishing. In addition, I’ve got a fly fishing kayak and Lemon Bay right out in front of me if you’re interested in kayak fishing for reds and snook. I’m here from around Nov 15 through May 1. My wife is disabled and takes a fair amount of my time caring for her. As a result I’ve not had much opportunity to meet fellow fishermen. Kevin Dieter knows me well in the event you’d like a reference.

Looking for fishing partner for a day

Im heading up into the myakka river this tuesday and would like one or two other guys to go with, we will take my boat its a 23ft Hydrasports bay. Will be using all artificial lures so being able to cast well will be a plus,  but I might also bring a few live mullet just incase I see some monster snook! I live right on the river so its not a far run to the fishing grounds from my house, gas bill for the day would be less than $50.

I would like to be loaded and ready to leave the dock by 8:30am to find some mullet for the well  and be done fishing for the day by 3 or 4pm.

Give me a call or Text 407-436-6268

Thanks,

Tim

Club Meeting Feb 21st

The February club meeting will be on Tuesday, February 21st at 6:30 pm.  Location will again be Marine Max in Venice.

Disregard the calendar on the home page that says the meeting is on Feb 16th.  That is an error and we are trying to figure out where it came from and how to delete it.

See you all on the 21st !

Need 1 maybe 2 for nearshore trip 1-7-12

Can’t find anyone who wants to fish.  Got a few spots I want to try from 10-15miles out.  Riding in a 18′ Whaler seas will be calm tomorrow so I want to take advantage but can’t find anyone to go.  I estimate about $25 each in fuel+ bait and ice.  Give me a call.

Rescheduled Offshore Trip 1-2 Spots Open

Cancelled our Thursday trip thinking seas wouldn’t lay down.  Rescheduling for Saturday.  Have room for 1 or 2 more as it stands.  $100 plus bait for split.  Leave Nokomis 6am and back around 4pm.  Planning on 40-60 miles out.  Leave email with your cell to jeff@youngrx.net or call 941-650-8005.

Heading offshore, Room for 1 or 2 more

I recently moved from the Northwest in Washington state. The fish and fishing style is quite different here and on my first trip out a few days ago I ran out to an artificial reef numbered M15. Its just a short way outside the Venice jetties in a little less than 40 feet of water. I figured I would start out just trying to catch something that lives in Florida. Well I anchored, dropped down some frozen shrimp on a 1/0 circle hook and spent the next couple of hrs. unhooking numerous little flounder and some little fish I assume are what I hear guys calling Grunts because they talk to you all the while you are messing with them. All the times winding in these little critters I never had an attack by a bigger predator like I would have back in Washington. I trolled some diving plugs on the way back in with “0″ results.

Tomorrow I’m planning on running out farther and finding something new. If a guy or two that knows the “what, where and how” and would like to come along it would be great. Or there’s a guy or two that knows as little as I about the local fishery and wants to go out and stumble around in the dim light of ignorance and have a great time, that would be great too.

My boat is a 2005 Striper 2101 walkaround. It has a single 150 four stroke Yamaha with a 8 hp kicker. Garmin 188C  plotter/fishfinder and Raymarine C70 plotter/radar. For communication I have  a Uniden Solara with DSC and a handheld Standard Horizon HX750S. I also have a “SPOT” onboard. I’m going to try to attach a photo of the boat. Not sure if it will work since this is my first post.

My cell # is 360-581-8370 if you would like to go out or just jawbone about fishin’.

Sea you on the water.. John

12/22 1pm- North Jetty

Heading out to the North Jetty trying for some pompano or whatever really.  I’ll be in a yellow long sleeve T.
