The student will learn advanced rigging techniques that include making various types of rigs for trolling and other fishing methods from purchased supplies, boat set up and rigging, and tackle preparations. Outrigger and Downrigger installation, along with Release and Flat-Line clips, and their proper use is crucial to this specific course. Students will become proficient at rigging Ballyhoo, Spanish Mackerel and Split-Tail Mullet. Additionally, we will teach the time proven methods for obtaining, making and using Strip-Baits. SA-400 Billfish Strategies: Geared towards the serious Big Game Fisherman, this course of study is designed to increase your billfish chances and allow the novice to land their first Marlin or other Blue Water Species. Topics include planning far-offshore ventures, long range weather and Sea condition reports and stressing the importance of Satellite Imagery Services. The student will better understand sea-surface temperature reports, current flows and altimetry information in order to target specific Nutrient-Rich areas, and ultimately reduce fuel burn. Big-Game lure and bait selection makes up the majority of this Fishing School package. Students will learn how to properly choose, maintain, and re-skirt lures, construct hook-sets and leaders, in conjunction with correctly crimping lures, hook-sets and swivels in place. Line to Leader topics will also be covered and include the importance of tying a proper Bimini Twist and attaching Wind-On Leaders; purchasing and construction of Wind-On’s will also be imparted upon the student.
