BA-100   Basic Nautical Know-How:  This course of instruction is a boating school, designed for the New or “Freshman” Boat owner, or the “First Mate” that will be the Captain’s go to Guy or Gal.   If you just plunged into boat ownership, recently transplanted from another area, need a refresher, and want to learn to boat, this is the course for you.

    Topics include: Boat nomenclature, boat and boat ramp etiquette, knot tying, trailering, as well as boat docking and Proper tie up at the dock or slip.  Emphasis is placed on understanding mandated Coast Guard Safety Equipment laws, boating safety, Basic Rules of the Road and comprehending Marine signage such as Manatee, Slow Speed and Idle Speed zones.  Also included in this boating school is interpreting the marine environment and understanding weather, marine forecasts and boating safety.

    A special section dedicated to the First Mates will concentrate on Maritime Points of Interests and family related activities- a big part of this boating school.  Waterfront restaurants, fine dining, day-trips and Mini-vacations will intrigue the mates. SA-100:  Fishing Basics:  Students enrolled in this Fishing School are relatively new to saltwater fishing, or have transplanted from another state or venue and are seeking out local knowledge and generally desire to learn to fish on their own, without hiring a fishing guide or fishing charter.

    Topics include:  What species you will catch, seasons, size and bag limits and what to use to catch them.  Proven and established fishing locations With GPS Coordinates are provided to the student, affording them a basic foundation on where to go and when to go there.  Fish and bait identification will be covered- along with specific locations to allow the student to both purchase and Catch their own bait.  Students will learn how to go Grouper Fishing, Snapper fishing, catch Mackerel, Kingfish, Cobia, Sharks and numerous other species, along with how to make basic rigs that catch these fish as well as Kid's Fishing considerations.  This is an important time to perfect kids fishing interest as well.

SA -300  Advanced Offshore Techniques:  This instructional phase is geared towards the advanced offshore, Blue-water Fisherman.  Students wishing to enroll in this class should possess several years of offshore boating and fishing experience and be proficient in all associated aspects.  This package is suited for the Blue-Water enthusiast seeking out Pelagic species such as Sailfish, Dolphin, and Tuna.  Wahoo Fishing, Grouper Fishing, Snapper Fishing and other Reef Species are the emphasis in this Fishing Academy.  This is for the Serious Offshore Angler seeking big Fish !

    Advanced planning strategies and techniques to include weather patterns, marine forecasts, and fish migrations trends are taught.  Equipment needs such as tools, emergency repair parts, and Offshore Survival supplies, and boating safety are emphasized.

    The student will learn advanced rigging techniques that include making various types of rigs for trolling and other fishing methods from purchased supplies, boat set up and rigging, and tackle preparations.  Outrigger and Downrigger installation, along with Release and Flat-Line clips, and their proper use is crucial to this specific course.

    Students will become proficient at rigging Ballyhoo, Spanish Mackerel and Split-Tail Mullet.  Additionally, we will teach the time proven methods for obtaining, making and using  Strip-Baits.  They will also understand the proper methods for purchasing, thawing, brining and storing rigged baits.  The student will learn how to better target specific Pelagic Species such as Tuna, Dolphin, Wahoo and Sailfish by understanding bait and lure selection, combined with strategies for locating them within a Trolling Spread.

    Fish fighting methods are covered from the actual rod and reel perspective to boat handling techniques that provide an upper hand to the angler.  Fish wiring and gaffing will be thoroughly covered, in addition to fish handling and cleaning.

    Students will learn how to become more proficient at interpreting bottom finders, boat positioning, drift patterns and most importantly, advanced anchoring techniques.  Chumming techniques and natural bait presentations are meticulously detailed in this section.

SA-400  Billfish Strategies:  Geared towards the serious Big Game Fisherman, this course of study is designed to increase your billfish chances and allow the novice to land their first Marlin or other Blue Water Species.

    Topics include planning far-offshore ventures, long range weather and Sea condition reports and stressing the importance of Satellite Imagery Services.  The student will better understand sea-surface temperature reports, current flows and altimetry information in order to target specific Nutrient-Rich areas, and ultimately reduce fuel burn.

    Big-Game lure and bait selection makes up the majority of this Fishing School package.  Students will learn how to properly choose, maintain, and re-skirt lures, construct hook-sets and leaders, in conjunction with correctly crimping lures, hook-sets and swivels in place.  Line to Leader topics will also be covered and include the importance of tying a proper Bimini Twist and attaching Wind-On Leaders; purchasing and construction of Wind-On’s will also be imparted upon the student. 

    Bait rigging is an important portion of this course.  Skillful presentation is stressed as are hints to shape and mold the perfect mate, maximizing Cockpit Command !  The use of, or non use of teasers, dredges and other fish attractant strategies are covered in detail. Students will rig numerous Baits in this session, optimizing their presentations.
