Captain Kevin M. Deiter 

    
  Captain Kevin Deiter is a fully licensed and Insured United States Coast Guard Captain and the owner of the Feeding Frenzy Sportfishing and Boating Academy.
  After growing up on the South Jersey Shores chasing Blues and Stripers, Captain Kevin moved to Southwest Florida where he began a long career in Law Enforcement.  Throughout his career in the agency's Special Operations Bureau, Captain Kevin was a team leader for the Dive Team and Marine Unit, spending many years patrolling and protecting the waters where he worked and boated in his personal time.
  
     For two decades, Captain Kevin fished on both coasts of Florida, as well as the Keys and the Bahamas.   Fishing for Grouper, Snapper, Kingfish and Cobia, to pelagic species such as Marlin, Sailfish, and Wahoo, Captain Kevin has spent countless hours on the water.  His true passion however, lies in teaching and passing on his knowledge, experience and expertise to the Feeding Frenzy Sportfishing Academy students. 
    Captain Kevin has ran, organized and also fished in numerous tournaments as a Captain, mate and angler, placing well in many of them.  Everything from local grouper and snapper tournaments, to the Bahamas Billfish Championship and Sarasota Slam, he has done it.  
        As a certified instructor,  Kevin has taught many fishing, boating and conservation seminars and classes over the years.  He is sought after to speak to many organizations and groups about marine related topics, as well as boating safety.    Upon retiring, Captain Kevin ran a  sportfishing yacht in the Abacos, Bahamas targeting Blue and White Marlin, along with Wahoo, Tuna and Mahi and has successfully guided many anglers to their first Marlin and numerous other trophy fish. 
  Kevin also writes the monthly Offshore Fishing Forecast for Coastal Angler Magazine's Terra Ceia to Boca Grande region, along with an ongoing series on Boating Safety.  Coastal Angler Magazine is Florida's largest outdoor publication and is the most exciting and informative fishing publication anywhere!
  Captain Kevin has been married to his wife Stephanie for many years, and they have one teenage son who is an avid golfer, guitar enthusiast and yes, fisherman.  Kevin owns a 28 foot Mako, “Feeding Frenzy” that is kept at the "New" Royal Palm Marina in Englewood.

    Captain Chris O’Neill is the owner and operator of “Tail Chaser Charter Services”, based out of Placida’s World-Class Gasparilla Marina, just minutes away from Charlotte Harbor, Pine Island Sound and Boca Grande Pass. 
  Tail Chaser is SW Florida’s premier inshore guide service, featuring multiple guides with inshore/offshore capabilities.  
            

    Because of his professionalism, customer satisfaction and ability to deliver his vast fishing knowlege to our students, Captain Chris O'Neill Is our Senior Inshore Staff Instructor.

  Captain Chris is Co-Host of The Reel Saltwater Outdoors Radio Show.  Florida’s only “Live from the water” fishing show that airs Monday-Friday at 7:25 a.m. on FM 107.5 or AM 1530 as well as every Saturday at 1:00 pm on WENG.  

    Capt. Chris is Co-Owner and Senior Guide/Outdoor Writer for Coastal Angler Magazine (Sarasota/Bradenton edition) and also contributes monthly editorial content to GAFF Magazine, Lakeland Ledger, Coffee News, and other media publications. 

    Capt. Chris’ 2010 television broadcasting schedule includes Florida Sportsman TV (SUN/Sportsman’s Channel), Mark Sosin’s Saltwater Journal (SUN/Sportsman’s Channel/Outdoor Channel), and Big Water Adventures (Outdoor Channel).

    Seminar Series: Capt. Chris travels throughout the state of Florida educating and promoting better inshore angling strategies.  He regularly speaks to local fishing clubs, fishing and boating shows, Mote Marine Kids Programs and major corporate retailers.

John "JD" Donohue
Kayak and Beach Fishing Instructor

 

“JD” is our Senior Kayak and Beach Fishing Instructor and one of only ten members in the United States that make up the  Hobie Kayaks Regional Pro Fishing Team.  He is also a proud member of Accent Paddles, TFO Fishing Rods and Hobie Polarized Pro Staff.

    He authors the monthly “No Motor Required” column featured in Coastal Angler Magazine, and is a correspondent for the Sarasota Herald Tribune as well as the Reel Saltwater Outdoors radio program airing every Saturday on WENG 107.5 FM at 1:00 PM in Southwest Florida.

   JD has enjoyed the spotlight in numerous other commentaries in both print and television media outlets.  JD is a retired Semi-pro hockey player of more than 25 years and is an avid snook fisherman, stalking beaches for linesiders early in the mornings.

   Although John has enjoyed fishing tournament success, he better appreciates the more relaxed kayak experience and passing along his passion of kayak fishing to others, especially those new to the sport.  JD has been fishing the waters of Southwest Florida for more than a decade and possesses an intimate knowledge of southwest Florida's premier kayaking locations. 

  JD’s experience, attention to finite detail and an unmatched passion for this sport are what set him apart from anyone else in this venue.  His professionalism and teaching methodology are a testament to why he occupies this position with the Feeding Frenzy Sportfishing Academy.
  JD teaches several kayak courses that range from beginner's workshops, up to comprehensive, in-depth courses designed for the more advanced kayaker looking to elevate their skills to the next level.  JD's specialties include stalking flats for tailing Redfish and targeting Snook on the beaches, which are both "Do Not Miss" Academy Courses.
 

Sam Root:

 

  Sam Root is an extremely popular outdoor and marine industry photographer whose published works can be found in numerous fishing magazines, TV shows and even The International Game Fish Association (I.G.F.A).  

  Currently, Sam has eight (8) pieces on exhibit at the I.G.F.A. in Ft. Lauderdale, and has been the “on location” photographer for the nationally televised fishing show “The Saltwater Experience” with Tom Rowland and Rich Tudor, and also “Tailwalker”.  These programs both air on Versus and ESPN networks.

  Sam’s work and electrifying imagery have been published in: Florida Sportsman, Shallow Water Angler, Sportfishing Magazine, Saltwater Sportsman, Florida Sportfishing, The Traveling Sportsman, and Drake Fly Fishing Magazine, among others.

  Sam’s work is currently utilized by Under Armour Performance Clothing, and is presently on display at Bass Pro Shops as well as the Under Armour website.   His images have also been utilized by Skinnywater Culture Clothing, Redzone Shirts and Sebile Lures.

   Sam is the creator of “Saltyshores”, an internet group blog relating to all things outdoors. The content throughout Saltyshores is depicted through stories, high quality photography and video.  The site receives in excess of 20,000 visitors each month with more than 80,000 pages loaded monthly.

  Sam’s expertise in outdoor photography is delivered to The Feeding Frenzy Sportfishing and Boating Academy students through both classroom and practical experiences.  His uncanny ability to capture exciting and unique images in the outdoor environment is passed on to each student in detailed and thorough curriculums.  These courses are set up as a progressive series that match each photographer’s caliber and unique learning objectives.  The modules systematically progress to higher proficiency levels with each respective course.
